Evidence of cow bones for dam construction captured by Emily Fairfax.
Copy of an unverified YouTube video of a beaver chewing on a fish included for reference.
These observations challenge the assumption that beavers are restricted to a small range of materials that are also preferred foods for their dam building. They also provide evidence that beavers may be engage in osteophagy (bone-gnawing) or opportunistic omnivory when adjacent to salmon-bearing waters.
