Abstract
These folders contain geophysical data from the following sites: 1. Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, Yosemite, CA; 2. Boxley Quarry, Fieldale, VA; 3. Deer Run, Blacksburg, VA; 4. Virginia Tech (VT) Campus, Blacksburg, VA; and 5. West Point, VA. All these sites are parts of the Bedrock Cluster of NSF's Critical Zone Collaboration Network. This project, funded by grant NSF EAR-2012353, aims to provide the scientific community with unprecedented access to, data from, and knowledge of the deep CZ and its feedbacks with surface processes.
This resource contains snippets of data available in full under other resources in the repository. Due to the multitude of sites, the spatial coverage field below shows only the location of one site, Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, CA.
The data support the paper titled: Active-source environmental seismology, in Seismological Research Letters, by W. Steven Holbrook (wstevenh@vt.edu) Sean Bemis (sbemis@vt.edu) Denise Burgett (burgettd@vt.edu) Ben Eppinger (beppinger@vt.edu) Anya Gupta (anyagup@vt.edu) Shiv Mangal Gupta (shiv3210@vt.edu) and Ivan Rabak (irabak@vt.edu)

These folders contain seismic and location data from multiple sites of the Bedrock Cluster of NSF's Critical Zone Collaboration Network. All the sites with accompanying files are listed below. This project, funded by grant NSF EAR-2012353, aims to provide the scientific community with unprecedented access to, data from, and knowledge of the deep CZ and its feedbacks with surface processes. This project tests a simple conceptual model: that CZ structure, evolution, and processes are strongly influenced by bedrock conditions at the base of the CZ, including mineralogy, ambient stress, and inherited fractures, and that deep CZ processes are in turn influenced by surface processes like erosion, subsurface flow, and ecosystem productivity.

Mariposa Grove, CA
S_1.0_1.0_1_1.segy
Contains a single shot gather with traces from 1790 nodes deployed in a 45 x 45 m grid. One second data, 1 ms sampling, traces delayed by 0.05 s (i.e., shot time is at 0.05 s).
Geometry-Seismic
The folder contains one zipped geometry file (allGeometry.zip). The archive contains several zipped files.
GPR
There is the elevation file associated with the GPR line along the seismic line 1100 as well as the GPR profile itself. Both files are in the archive: GPR_line_Mariposa_Grove.zip. There is a readMe file with details on the GPR geometry.
Deer Run, Blacksburg, VA
The data set is in a separate resource. Search for it using its name and the ‘Bedrock’ keyword.
Boxley, Fieldale, VA
3C_segy_gather_Boxley.zip
Three files are included, each containing a single component (vertical, inline or crossline) from a single shot located at x=7 m on the line.
Boxley3C_Line201_202_203_Receivers_Theo.csv
Contains the receiver geometry.
VT Campus, Blacksburg, VA
There are four files containing seismic data and the associated geometry.
West Point, VA
HeaderFix_101.0_9000.0_STACKED.segy
Contains one shot gather.
geometry.zip
The geometry is included in the archive file.
