Abstract
This resource contains time series data of gross primary production (GPP), ecosystem respiration (ER), water temperature, and discharge obtained from Appling et al. (2018), photosynthetically active radiation of open-sky, stream surface, and benthos obtained from Savoy and Harvey (2021) of total 87 sites (n=50 for GPP and n=74 for ER).

This resource contains time series data of gross primary production (GPP), ecosystem respiration (ER), water temperature, and discharge curated from Appling et al. (2018), photosynthetically active radiation of open-sky, stream surface, and benthos from Savoy and Harvey (2021). Time series data are modified from the original data for the convenience of spectral analysis (conversion into frequency domain) by removal of unrealistic values (negative GPP, positive ER) and linear interpolation. Folder 'met_daily' contains daily GPP (n=50) and ER (n=74) (g O_2 m^-2 d^-1). Folder 'abio_daily' contains daily means of three types of irradiance (open-sky [par.o], stream surface [par.s], benthos [par.b]; µmol m^-2 s^-1), water temperature (t; °C), and discharge (q; L s^-1) of 87 sites. These daily time series were used for spectral analysis and simulation of ER. Folder 'abio_hourly' contains hourly measures of irradiance (par.o, par.s, par.b), water temperature (t), and discharge (q) of 50 sites, which were used for GPP simulation. Folder 'code' contains R codes used for making main figures of the paper (Figure 1-5) from the data. All time series files are in '.csv' format. File 'site_information' contains basic information of study sites, including USGS station number (site_name), watershed area (area; km^2), latitude (lat), longitude (long), data starting and ending dates (gpp.start, gpp.end, er.start, er.end), proportion of missing data (NA) in each record (gpp.na.per, er.na.per), and long names of the sites (long_name). If either GPP or ER was not anlyzed in a site, time-series information (dates, proportion of missing data) of that site is reported as 'NA.'
