Abstract
Water quality data in remote mountains is lacking, which limits a deeper understanding of the relationships of water quality with climate change and hydrological regimes change in remote mountains. Ball State University and Kathmandu University researchers have been collaboratively collecting water quality data in the Sagarmatha National Park for a decade, but the inaccessibility of the regional limits the quantity and quality of the samples. Starting from 2022, a data logger was installed in the river near Phortse Village in the Sagarmatha National Park of Nepal. Continuous water quality data, including temperature, salinity, conductivity, water depth, density, have been continuously recorded for every two hours. The data collection is on-going and the data will be updated later in 2025 when the team visits Nepal again. It is expected that long-term water quality data will fill the gap in that region and help researchers understand the impacts of climate change on water quality in the headwater region of the southern side of the Himalayan Mountains. The authors welcome the usage of this data from peer researchers with appropriate acknowledgement and citation.
