Abstract

With this project, I want to use night time light measurements to see if there is a more accurate way to predict the effects of extreme storm events (specifically flood related weather events). Since census data is only updated every 10 years and often has considerable inaccuracies in it, there has been research in how to incorporate near real time satellite data to better predict numerous socioeconomic factors with population being the most common.
