Supporting resources for 'Subsurface weathering signatures in stream chemistry during an intense storm'

Golla, J.K., Bouchez, J., Kuessner, M.L. , Rempe, D.M., and Druhan, J.L. (2022) 'Subsurface weathering signatures in stream chemistry during an intense storm', Earth and Planetary Science Letters, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.epsl.2022.117773

Table1.xlsx

Excel spreadsheet of Table 1 in manuscript.

WaterIsotopes.csv

Water isotope data for precipitation, shallow vadose zone, and Elder Creek samples.

Models

Directory that contains model input and relevant output including Jupyter python notebooks used to read in model results. The models were run with a version of CrunchTope used in Golla et al. (2021; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.epsl.2021.116988) and with PETSc 3.7.7 (https://petsc.org/release/).

RTM

Subdirectory that contains reactive transport model developed by Golla et al. (2021; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.epsl.2021.116988). There are five input files ('AqueousControl.ant', 'Aqueous.dbs', 'Database.dbs', 'EelRTM.in', 'PestControl.ant') and two output files ('pH3.tec', 'totcon3.tec') included.

Batch

Subdirectory that contains series of saturated zone batch models initiated from geochemical conditions corresponding to a range of vadose zone depths. Each 'Batch' subsubdirectory contains five input files ('AqueousControl.ant', 'Aqueous.dbs', 'Database.dbs', 'EelBatch.in', 'PestControl.ant') and one output file ('bottom.out') . The original configuration as developed by Golla et al. (2021; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.epsl.2021.116988) is contained in subsubdirectory 'BatchEPSL2021'. The subsubdirectory 'Output' is a compilation of the model results from the updated saturated zone batch models used in the study.

ReadRTM.ipynb

Jupyter notebook that retrieves relevant geochemical output from the reactive transport model corresponding to a range of vadose zone depths and used to initiate array of saturated zone batch models.

Plotting.ipynb

Jupyter notebook that reads in data from 'Table1.xlsx' and modeling results. Calculations of atmospheric corrections for solute concentrations and 95% confidence interval used to express the sample-specific uncertainty of lithium isotope measurements are also within the script. The example plot is a reproduction of Figure 7 in the manuscript.
