Abstract
Coastal aquifers are highly dynamic environments where storm surges and tides strongly influence groundwater flow, seawater intrusion, and biogeochemical reactions. This HydroShare resource provides the base-case COMSOL Multiphysics model developed for the study “Numerical Investigation of Storm Surge Effects on Denitrification in Nearshore Aquifers.” The resource includes the COMSOL input model, selected model parameters, and representative output datasets required to reproduce the primary simulation results for the base-case scenario presented in the paper. The model simulates coupled variable-density groundwater flow and reactive transport to investigate nitrate removal through denitrification under tidal and storm-surge forcing. This resource is intended to support reproducibility of the published study and to serve as a starting point for further investigations of coastal reactive transport processes.
