Abstract

This dataset comes from a study that designed and operated an IoT-aided smart flowmeter system for measuring water use across twenty-three households in the megacity of Karachi, Pakistan. These meters recorded water flow at 30-second intervals, in liters, from October 2021 to May 2023. The installation dates of each individual meter varied based on when the household entered the study. There were also periods of data inactivity due to operational issues, leading to missing data at some nodes for certain time periods. For each household, the time-series of water use was filtered to remove invalid observations including zero (or near zero) flow days or observations beyond the maximum flow that the sensor was rated for. The water use data presented here is aggregated to the daily time step, and divided by the number of household members. The maximum temperature for each day is also provided.
