Abstract

The accompanying dataset and R scripts provide the data processing and figure generation used in the analyses presented in the manuscript "Trees Enhance Rock Moisture Storage: A Major Pool in Karst Drylands and Crucial During Droughts" by Leite et al.

The code is written in R and includes data cleaning, event detection, volumetric water content and profile storage calculations, and the creation of figures for publication. Data sources include hourly rainfall records, neutron probe count ratios, OpenET evapotranspiration and NDVI estimates, and site-scale meteorological records.

All scripts are organized to run locally and require no external API access. To execute the code, open the .R file in R (v4.3 or higher) with the working directory set to the folder containing the dataset. Required packages are listed at the top of each script and include tidyverse, lubridate, zoo, readxl, patchwork, scales, and cowplot.

CSV and Excel files are formatted for direct loading into R, and variable definitions are provided in the README file.
