Abstract

This resource contains stream water temperature predictions generated for approximately 13,000 sites throughout Southern California to support an analysis of ecological water temperature conditions in "Regional temperature-ecology models elucidate potential thermal stress in urban streams". The resource is a ~5.5 GB zip file, which contains a single ~23 GB CSV with full predicted output data. The predictions can be reproduced by running TempEst 2 (github.com/mines-ciroh/tempest2) on the inputs, then increasing the `temp.max` column by 10%.

Relevant output columns:

- id: Site ID.
- lat, lon: Site coordinates in decimal degrees North and East.
- date: Date of prediction.
- temp.mod: Modeled daily mean water temperature (C).
- temp.max: Modeled daily maximum water temperature (C).

We would like to thank the members of the San Gabriel Temperature Ecology Study stakeholder and technical advisory groups for valuable feedback on the overall project and technical approach. We acknowledge LA County Sanitation Districts for partial funding support of the study. This research was supported by the Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) with funding under award NA22NWS4320003 from the NOAA Cooperative Institute Program.
