ABSTRACT:
River water sharing among co-basin states/countries is a big challenge to river basin management authorities. It involved the consideration of many related variables to arrive at a reasonable distribution of river water among its stakeholders. The professionals would like to adopt an easily implementable methodology within practical limitations without understanding the complex mathematical models behind it. In this context, using an analytical framework model, a user-friendly software (RIWASH) is developed to address the problem of river water sharing among its stakeholders. The professionals can easily feed all the relevant variables in the RIWASH that they consider appropriate in a user-friendly manner. After weighing all the variables provided by decision-makers, the software provides the water allocations to river co-basin stakeholders. Decision-makers can also easily use RIWASH software for dynamic water allocations among river basin stakeholders depending upon dynamic hydrological conditions rather than static allocations generally given by the tribunals. Thus, RIWASH software will serve as a great tool for tribunals and decision-makers to provide a sustainable solution for co-basin stakeholders.
