Abstract
This resource contains continuous discharge (streamflow) time series for 21 monitoring sites across four watersheds in the Quantifying Ecosystem exports across Space and Time (QuEST) project: Brush Creek, Arkansas (1 site); Dog Valley, Nevada (3 sites); Santa Fe River, New Mexico (11 sites); and South Sandy Creek, Alabama (6 sites). Discharge was derived from pressure-transducer water-level records, corrected for barometric pressure and sensor-repositioning offsets, and converted to discharge (Q, m³/s) using site-specific stage-discharge rating curves built from field discharge measurements (see the "Individual Discharge Measurements" resource).
Each site is published as a full-record CSV (`<SiteID>_full.csv`) and as one CSV per USGS water year (`<SiteID>_WY####.csv`, Oct 1–Sep 30, labeled by the ending calendar year). Record lengths vary by site; across this resource, coverage spans May 2024 through October 2026.
See the included README.txt for full column definitions, the water-year convention, and site-specific notes on rating curve type (standard, segmented, pool-formed, or sensor-repositioning-adjusted).

Continuous Streamflow (Discharge) Records — README
What's in this resource
Discharge (Q, m³/s) time series for 21 sites across four watersheds, derived from pressure-transducer water-level data. Each site has a full-record file and one file per USGS water year.
File naming
<SiteID>_full.csv— entire period of record for that site.<SiteID>_WY####.csv— one water year only (Oct 1 of ####-1 through Sep 30 of ####). Example:WY2025= Oct 1, 2024 – Sep 30, 2025.Columns
Column Meaning DataIDSite identifier DateTimeTimestamp (local time, 15-minute interval) Q_m3sDischarge in cubic meters per second. NAwhere no reliable estimate exists — seegap_reason.dryyes/no— whether the channel was observed or classified as dry at this timestamp, for sites where dry-channel conditions occur. Sites that never go dry are markednothroughout.extrapolatedTRUE/FALSE— whether this Q value falls outside the stage range covered by field discharge measurements (i.e., the rating curve was extrapolated rather than interpolated at this point).NAfor site-variants where this diagnostic wasn't computed.gap_reasonBlank when Q_m3shas a value. WhenQ_m3sisNA, explains why the row was still kept in the file rather than dropped — e.g. a known field/equipment issue (known) vs. an unresolved data gap (unknown). Leading gap rows at the very start of a site's deployment (before the sensor was recording usable data) are trimmed from the file entirely rather than kept asNArows.Water year convention
USGS standard: October 1 – September 30, labeled by the ending calendar year (e.g. Oct 1, 2024 – Sep 30, 2025 = WY2025).

Most sites use a standard single-line stage-discharge rating curve. Three sites use a different approach, noted here since it affects how
Q_m3swas derived: USF19 and SSM01 use a segmented (two-slope) rating curve; USF03 uses a pool-formed-channel rating curve; SSM20 uses a rating curve adjusted for a sensor repositioning event mid-record.
